Weekly Emissions Report (EU)
Report Methodology Sample Report-Adobe PDF
Genscape introduces CO2 emission estimates from power plants based on direct observations of power plant performance. The European emissions market has surprised many observers with a sustained level of liquidity and stubbornly high prices. But what is behind the market strength? In addition to having to adapt to a market in which the supply is artificially set by government bodies, market participants had to contend with not knowing much, if anything about demand. Genscape’s Weekly European Emissions report provides an important and large piece of the puzzle – carbon dioxide emissions by European power plants. Genscape monitors power output at dozens of fossil-fired plants in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Czech Republic and uses this data to estimate emission levels. The emission calculation is plant and capacity-utilization specific and is performed for every hour of operation by the plant. The calculation parameters were developed in cooperation with a leading environment and energy economics institute. More details are available in the methodology and the sample report.
