1. How accurate is the real-time information estimated from power plants and high-voltage transmission lines?

There presently exists an average absolute error of less than 10% in determining plant output. As Genscape technology evolves an average absolute error of 5% will be attained.

2. Is the network complete or will Genscape continue to add plants?

In December, 2002, Genscape completed its planned monitor installations for its national network. Genscape monitors approximately 50% of the largest US Power plants, making it the industry standard for current, accurate information. Genscape will continue to add new plants as new generation is added to the grid, and Genscape will always do its best to honor customer requests.

3. Which North American Electricity Reliability Council (NERC) Regions in the US Power market are covered by Genscape?

Genscape is currently monitoring transmission lines and estimating power plant output in all NERC regions.

4. How is “real-time” defined? How fresh is the information?

Genscape updates its information on a continuous basis. Genscape notifies its customers of “events” in less than 2 minutes of occurrence in most cases.

5. How does Genscape receive most of its data?

Genscape monitors transmission lines and determines power plant output via a wireless, non- intrusive network using Genscape proprietary, patented technology.

6. In what format can Genscape customers receive information be received?

Genscape’s information is available either via a web interface or through direct data feeds into customers’ networks. Data is provided in XML or .csv formats, and are easily integrated with and manipulated in proprietary or third-party analytics and software tools.

7. Is all Genscape information archived? Can a Genscape customer retrieve all information?

Genscape can provide archived information for certain plants in NERC regions in the US from as early as spring 2001, when Genscape first brought its monitoring network online. Genscape customer’s have access to Genscape’s archived information.

8. What power grid coverage is provided by Genscape?

Genscape’s network reports on approximately 50% of the capacity of power plants in the US that are 500 megawatts or larger.

Genscape is expanding its information services to cover additional energy markets such as natural gas, petroleum, and coal, and is extending its geographic coverage to areas outside the United States.

Genscape currently has a majority of the nation’s Top Fifty energy trading and marketing firms as customers, and also provides the Power 2.3 service to state and federal regulatory agencies, including the FERC and the Department of Homeland Security.
