Bill Townsend is one of the Managing Directors of North American Power at Genscape. He is responsible for Genscape's product strategy and direction. He leads a team of industry experts who manage Genscape's product portfolio to be a leading provider of energy market intelligence. Prior to joining Genscape, Bill worked as an energy economic consultant and information product designer. He has a wide variety of experience building analytical software and data services for the energy industry. In 2000, he founded and was president of Friedwire, Inc., which was acquired by Platts/McGraw-Hill in October 2003, where he ran the database business until 2006. He holds a BA in International Affairs and an MA in Economics from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
