Deirdre Alphenaar is Chief R&D Officer at Genscape overseeing research, development and deployment of Genscape’s global sensor networks. Deirdre leads a team of scientists, mathematicians, and engineers delivering new measurement techniques and analytical methods for the continued expansion of Genscape’s proprietary data offerings to the Power, Oil, Petrochemical, Natural Gas, and Agricultural markets. Previously, she worked as the Director of Information Technology for Telemics, Inc., a Louisville based wireless telemetry company. Before moving to the U.S. in 2000, she held a research associate position at the University of Cambridge, England, following a Ph.D. in Physics (University of Surrey), and a Masters in Medical Radiation Physics (Charing Cross Medical School/Brunel University). Deirdre has authored over 15 scientific publications in areas ranging from medical imaging to polymer physics. Deirdre manages the Genscape patent portfolio, and currently holds seven U.S. and several international patents.
