Genscape, Inc., the world's first and only independent supplier of real-time power generation information, is seeking a business analyst to support the company’s expansion into the Japanese energy market.

Genscape is one of the United States’ most dynamic information companies. The company provides unique data services to energy trading markets primarily in the United States and Europe. The company’s flagship product, Genscape Power, is a real-time power grid monitoring and reporting service used by many of the world's largest energy companies. The company's patented information collection and distribution technology has won numerous awards, and demand for Genscape's unique service has led to a 20-fold increase in company revenues over the past four years. Genscape employs approximately 65 people and is headquartered in Louisville, KY with offices in New York City, Washington D.C., Amsterdam, London and Tokyo.

Position Summary

Genscape is growing to take advantage of the developing Japanese market for trading in power and related energy commodities, and is seeking a high-performance professional to support the company’s expansion in Japan. The Business Analyst will be responsible for leading various aspects of building Genscape’s business in Japan, focused initially on market research, marketing, supporting Genscape operations in Japan, establishing vendor and partner relationships, and supporting non-Japanese speaking executives in the establishment of a dynamic information business central to the Japanese energy markets.

Essential Candidate Qualities

The position requires a self-motivated individual that is able to function at a high level to support crucial business decisions. The ability to manage multiple simultaneous efforts in varied business disciplines is essential. A strong work ethic, creativity, willingness to travel, and a friendly and outgoing personality are important. As a critical interface between Genscape’s existing European/American operations and our Japanese partners, complete fluency in Japanese and English language, and facility in the etiquette of Japanese business, are required.

Education, Experience, and other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA, similar degree or equivalent significant work experience desired
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience, with significant international exposure preferred
  • Complete fluency in Japanese and English
  • The position may require domestic and limited international travel
  • Energy industry and/or energy commodity trading experience a strong plus but not required
