DESCRIPTION:

This position is primarily responsible for the setup, deployment, and maintenance of system monitoring for all mission critical components and products. Systems must be monitored and maintained 7x24. Monitoring components include the network, servers, databases, datafeeds, backups, and applications. This position will work closely with the Infrastructure, Development, and QA teams to set up proper monitoring.

JOB EXPECTATIONS:

• Monitoring dashboard setup and maintenance to track critical events and data

• Documenting and standardizing the monitoring processes

• Metrics to show usage and thresholds with event actions notifications

• Event Action Management to manage how events are handled and how pages go out

• Backups adding hosts to backup schedule and swapping out tapes

• Preventive Maintenance duties

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED:

• Excellent organizational, analytical and both verbal and written communication skills in English

• Ability to work independently

• Working knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP and SNMP

• Working knowledge of different UNIX-like platforms and distributions

• Experience with Apache HTTP Servers

• NOC environment experience with monitoring, ticketing, escalation procedures & post mortems

• Experience with the implementation of hardware and software upgrades.

• Experience with managing change controls whether performed personally or by others

• Experience and working knowledge of networking protocols, systems and procedures

• Experience with monitoring dashboards and suites

• Interface and escalate to the Network Operations Management as required

• Must desire to be part of a tight knit team
