| Coal stockpile data offers insight into the state of the generation
fuel markets
New York, NY, Monday February 5, 2007 – Genscape
Inc., the only supplier of real-time power plant output and transmission
status information has announced that it is making some of its coal stockpile
data available to clients of Stifel Nicolaus, one of the largest middle-market
regional investment banks.
Genscape uses its timely coal burn and coal transport data to calculate
regional and national coal stockpile figures. Coal and natural gas traders
use this data to assess market direction for generation fuels.
“We felt that hard numbers on coal reserves would be quite interesting
for investors in the mining sector. And we thought that Stifel Nicolaus
would be the best partner to reach that audience,” Abudi Zein, Senior
VP, Genscape Data Resources, said.
“Timely coal stockpile data will help our clients gain deeper
insights into the health of the coal market,” said Paul Forward,
Principal at Stifel Nicolaus.
Genscape Inc. is the originator of real-time power supply information
to support decision-making for power marketers, regulators, utilities,
distributors, and other energy market participants. In addition to real-time
power flows, Genscape supplies data on the fundamentals of coal, gas,
oil and emissions in the United States and Europe. Genscape’s parent
company is DMG, the information publishing division of the Daily Mail
