Weekly USGC crude oil storage measurements for 475 tanks, delivered a full day before EIA estimates

Track capacity and construction trends to better understand market fundamentals

Genscape’s U.S. Gulf Coast Crude Storage Report delivers critical storage-level information for crude oil stocks at the most significant port cities in PADD 3: Houston, Nederland, and Corpus Christi. This report is the first to provide accurate and timely data for making informed trading decisions, and uses the same highly calibrated infrared camera, aerial diagnostic, and proprietary measurement methodologies as Genscape’s industry standard Cushing Storage Report.

Subscribers to the U.S. Gulf Coast Crude Storage Report gain access to tank-by-tank data for 475 tanks, accounting for 98 percent of operational crude storage in Houston, Nederland, and Corpus Christi. The report is released at 10:00 AM ET on Tuesdays, a full day ahead of EIA data releases, giving clients a competitive advantage and the ability to make more informed trading decisions.Infrared cameras monitor oil storage levels

Methodology Behind the Measurements

To determine individual tank storage levels, Genscape measures the elevation of the roof in floating tanks using pictures in the visual spectrum. Infrared images are used to detect storage levels in fixed roof tanks and to verify readings from the floating roof tanks. Genscape flies over each terminal once a week to collect detailed storage-level measurements. Flights take place on Thursdays to correspond to EIA reporting periods, allowing for direct comparison of inventory levels.
