Cushing Crude Oil Stocks Inch Back After Four Weeks of Builds

Using infrared cameras, aerial diagnostics, and other proprietary measurement techniques, Genscape reported Monday, April 22 that Cushing stocks slightly declined. The flow of Canadian crude oil into Cushing declined as a result of an unscheduled interruption in the flow on the main Keystone line earlier in the week, which impacted the Keystone – Steel City to Cushing pipeline.

Oil shipments from Canada to Cushing declined by an average of 137,844 bpd for the week ending April 19, or a week over week reduction of 36 percent. Further contributing to the decline in Cushing stocks was a reduction of flow of oil from West Texas into Cushing, which declined by 25, 254 bpd, bringing the total flow reduction into Cushing from these two transportation routes to 163,098 bpd.

Below is a detailed look at the Cushing storage operators as of April 19th. For access to real time pipeline flows into and out of Cushing, plus access to Cushing data on Monday, two days ahead of EIA, sign up for a free trial here.
