Working Natural Gas Inventory in the Producing Region

This week's Natural Gas injection in non-salt storage facilities is the largest since the 26 bcf of injection on October 7, 2011. Current inventory balance for non-salt domes is at 589 bcf, -447 bcf lower than historical max at 1,036 bcf. In 2011, from same gas week in May to the end of October, operators in the producing region injected only about 150 bcf of gas into non-salt domes.  Despite large injections in the past three weeks, it seems unlikely that the storage inventory for nonsalt facilities will be filled up this summer. Injections typically slow down in July and August as cooling load increases. The low storage inventory will likely put bearish pressure on the cash prices in the producing region.
